Zach the Builder

Maybe it's because Isaac is in construction, maybe it's because he's a boy but... Zach is absolutely fascinated with tools. All tools, from hammers to tape measures to drills. He loves all thing construction related. Yesterday we went to the airport to meet some friends who were returning from Ethiopia with their new baby. We were all very emotional and glad to see everyone back safely. As we were walking through the airport together Zach's eyes lit up as he said "Look Mama, they are wearing hard hats.. like Daddy!" As we drive down the highways in Orlando (who are constantly under construction) he loves to point out all the construction equipment that is by the side of the road. "Look Mama, Lofty.. Scoop.. Rolly.. Dump Truck..... Where's Dizzy?" If those names don't mean anything to you, you've obviously been missing your daily dose of "Bob the Builder". Zach likes to watch Bob the Builder with his hammer in his hand, just in case Bob needs his help :) Luckily our Library has a massive collection of them, which means Zach now loves going to the library. His favorite place, with out question is Home Depot. He asks to go there all the time. Last week when we were there Isaac told him that they have classes where kids can "make something", so all week Zach would say "I go, Home Depot to make something Mama".

So this morning we went to our first Kids Workshop at Home Depot. I have to say, it really is awesome, and I'm not even a tool fan. They had these great kits that had all the parts to make a football goalpost, in honor of the start of college football (Isaac's favorite season of all). Zach loved hammering the nails and screwing in the screws. He even got his very own Home Depot apron and a pin with a picture of the field goal. He was definitely the youngest kid there, the safety glasses they had would not even stay on his head, so he wore his "safety glasses", i.e. red cookie monster sunglasses.

They even had a big goalpost that Zach got a chance to throw 3 footballs through. He was like a kid in a candy store, and then Ms. Janice gave him a pack of smarties. Zach will do anything for candy, as evidenced by the fact that he is now potty trained. I think he probably gets that from me, I've been know to be slightly food obsessed to :)
